Juventus Appoint Ex- Azzurri Head Coach Luciano Spalletti

The Serie A powerhouse have named ex- Italy head coach the veteran manager to take the helm until the end of the season.

The 66-year-old takes over from Igor Tudor, who was let go post the Lazio setback last weekend.

Tudor arrived at the club in March to replace Thiago Motta but left after seven months at the end of an eight-match winless run.

Under Spalletti, Napoli clinched the Serie A championship in 2022-23 then moving on to lead the Italian national team, who had failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup during Roberto Mancini's tenure.

He secured their spot in Euro 2024 exiting in the last 16 stage against Switzerland.

Nonetheless, Italy dismissed Spalletti in June following a loss to Norway in World Cup qualifying, with the Azzurri at risk of missing out on a third consecutive World Cup.

Spalletti has also managed Inter Milan, Roma and Udinese in Serie A and lifted the Russian league trophy twice while at Zenit St Petersburg.

Juventus were temporarily led by Massimo Brambilla in the midweek 3-1 triumph over Udinese placing them seventh in the Serie A standings - trailing leaders Napoli by six points after nine matches.

In the Champions League, they sit 25th in the league phase, after recording one defeat and two ties in the initial three fixtures.
