A man who laced candy with sedative and distributed them to youngsters at a youth camp in Leicestershire has admitted sexual offences against two children who were nine and ten years old.

The defendant was detained after eight youngsters and a grown-up experienced illness at the facility in mid-summer.

The senior citizen, from that region, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he appeared at the judicial center on the end of the week.

Nevertheless, he denied one particular crime he was accused of, which was concerning a young boy.

Ruben was kept in jail before a additional proceeding on November 28th.

'Sweet game'

The prosecutor, presenting evidence, outlined the defendant's actions to the judicial body.

She explained his targets were under-privileged children who were attending a summer camp which he managed.

The man engaged in a "sweet game" with the youngsters, the prosecutor said, in which he would go into the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and request they to eat sweets "rapidly".

She told the court the defendant had conducted this practice with the young males "over an extended period", and youngsters had previously become sick the next day.

She stated Ruben had been capable of justifying this for many years as the children being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had concerns in July 2025.

Mrs Prior KC continued: "In the summer" his stepson had worries about the activities, for good reason.

"They chose" to have a look in the individual's items."

The legal counsel explained objects including lubricant, petroleum jelly and medical needles were located, and his family member contacted the law enforcement about his worries.

She said Ruben continued to conduct the "treat game" with six boys that night - July 26th - and they were all ill the following morning.

"Authorities" had not gone out by that stage," she stated further.

The police watchdog, the police conduct office, previously told that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the events.

Mrs Prior said the children were struggling to walk due to their condition, so the family member notified the police again.

She explained the man then engaged in the "treat game" in a space of five youngsters.
