Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.
Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.
The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.
Police then discovered many other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Police report preliminary tests indicate the fluid was probably human blood.
"At present there remains no clue as to its source; investigators are presently not informed of any physical harm in connection with the event," they stated.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the residents for details.
A high-ranking representative stated the incident left him stunned and needed to be addressed promptly.
"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing attack in 2020," he stated on online, mentioning the death of nine people by a shooter targeting residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
